More About Brent
Brent Saccucci (he/they/she pronouns—don't worry if you don't get that yet!) is a passionate educator, researcher, and consultant deeply committed to literacy, inclusive education, and social justice. Brent's signature teaching style blends storytelling, dad jokes, and educational research to move tough conversations from controversy to compassion. Brent has taught at every level, from Grade 2 to Grade 12 to graduate school, and is currently an instructor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Lethbridge.
He has also taught courses at the University of Alberta and the University of British Columbia, mentoring pre-service and in-service teachers in best practices in culturally responsive teaching and literacy. In K-12 contexts, Brent has worked as a literacy interventionist, guidance counsellor, and district equity consultant, where he has developed district-wide professional learning initiatives.
Brent holds an MEd in Curriculum Studies from the University of Alberta, an MA in Curriculum & Pedagogy from OISE at the University of Toronto, and is currently a doctoral candidate in the Faculty of Education at Western University.
Brent lives in Southern Alberta with his oppositionally defiant French bulldog and his musical husband. Outside his work as a consultant and educator, Brent is an amateur spoken word poet and stand-up comedian, so his sessions are always full of storytelling and a healthy dose of humour!
